Iris

With Iris I wanted to create and capture something beautiful from what I find beautiful and what makes me happy, in order to make the audience also feel happiness, excitement and awe. The best way I found to do that was by using colour and light. Originally, the piece wasn’t going to be a chandelier. It was inspired by the process of screen printing onto glass. The ideas early on in this project were based on Edward Burne-Jones’ and William Morris’ stained glass windows. Both artists were very close friends who worked so well together and produced something so beautiful. Their passion, friendship, skill and imagination helped to produce the best work they possibly could. Their work was filled with their personality and my aim was to create something beautiful using my own passion, skill and imagination, using my own personality.
In the future I would like to further my chandelier work by designing and making larger, bespoke pieces.
